The first time I had Shishito Peppers was at a white tablecloth establishment and I was in love. During covid, I actually grew them in my garden. They are super easy to cook and require almost no preparation. I have used many dips with them, from literally poppyseed dressing, to vegan ranch, to hoisin sauce - literally whatever sounds yummy at the moment.

To prepare you need two items:

  • shishito peppers

  • sesame oil - you can also use another oil, but this is more traditional

Now you have to decide how to cook them. You can pan-fry them or oven bake them. I generally pan-fry them. I pour a little sesame oil in the pan (not very much) and then while the pan is heating I make sure and get oil on both sides of the pepper. When they blister (see picture above) they are ready to eat in your sauce of choice.
